When your phone's not there for you

Your phone has your whole address book in it. Which is great, until it isn't.

Nobody memorises phone numbers anymore. They're just there, in your pocket, always. Until you leave your phone in a cab. Until the battery dies and you're nowhere near a charger. Until you put it down for thirty seconds and it's gone. Until you step outside and the door locks behind you and your phone is on the other side.

Then you realise you can't recall a single digit of numbers you've called a hundred times.

Your battery died. You're out. No charger in sight. The number you need is locked in a dead phone.
You left it somewhere. Cab, bar, the seat on a train. It'll turn up. But right now you need to reach someone.
You try to log in somewhere else. You find a device. You open iCloud or Google to grab a number. They need to verify it's you, so they send a code to your phone. The one you don't have. Dead end.
One is None

If you only have one, you have none.

There's a principle used in high-stakes environments where failure isn't an option. It's simple. If you only have one of something critical, you effectively have none. One route out. One communication method. One way to reach someone.

The people who operate in those environments don't leave things to chance. They build redundancy into everything. Not because they expect things to go wrong. Because they know that when things go wrong, there's always a backup plan.

Your phone is one. One is none.

Luck isn't a plan. Quick Contacts is.

The solution

A phone book that lives outside your phone.

Quick Contacts is two.

A cloud-based phone book that lives outside your device. Outside your iCloud. Outside your Google account. Outside everything that requires your phone to access.

You set it up once. You log in with an alias and a PIN, nothing else. No verification codes. No third party accounts. No dead ends.

When you need it, you open any browser on any device and your contacts are right there. One tap to message. One tap to call. Your pre-written message already filled in.

Why this exists

It happened to me more than once.

Locked out of work accommodation at 11pm, phone inside, in the middle of the Outback, rural Australia. Half an hour walk to a petrol station in the dark. Nobody had the number I needed. A stranger overheard me and happened to work for the same company. I got lucky.

Tomorrowland. 400,000 people. My phone disappeared into the crowd. No way to find my crew. No way to reach them. The moment you realise your whole world lives in your pocket. I just made the best of it and eventually walked back to the accommodation.

Both times the fix was the same. Two or three phone numbers I could actually get to.

"I built Quick Contacts because luck isn't a plan. Quick Contacts is."

How it works

Three steps. Two minutes.

Set it up once. It's there for life.

1
Create your alias and PIN
No email required for login. Pick an alias you'll remember, something like a nickname, and a 6-digit PIN. That's your login from any device, anywhere.
2
Add your contacts
Add the people you'd want to reach if you didn't have your phone. Write a default message once. It pre-fills automatically every time you send.
3
Access from any device
Open any browser on any phone or computer. Log in with your alias and PIN. Your contacts are right there.
When you'll need it

More often than you'd think.

battery_0_bar
Your phone dies right as you're about to meet someone. Classic.
lock
You're locked out. Your phone's inside. So are your keys. Great day.
hotel
The Airbnb host's number is saved in your phone. Your phone's dead.
water
You drop it in the pool. It's in a bag of rice. Life goes on.
local_hospital
You're at the hospital and your battery just hit zero. Can't call Mum. Still alive though.
phonelink_erase
Cracked screen. Completely unreadable. Somewhere in there is the number you need.
restaurant
You left it at the restaurant. They don't open until tomorrow. Neither does your patience.
local_taxi
You jump out of the Uber. Your phone didn't. The rating can wait. Your friends can't.
music_note
Your phone got stolen at a concert. You're still there. So are your friends, but you can't find them.
photo_camera
You handed it to someone for a photo. They handed it back to someone else.
pool
You went for a swim. Your phone didn't get the memo.
help
It slipped out of your pocket somewhere between here and there. Could be anywhere really.

Any browser. Any device. Any situation. Your contacts are there when your phone isn't.

FAQ

Common questions.

Do I need to remember my alias and PIN?
Yes. Pick something you'll remember. A nickname you've had for years and a PIN you already know. Don't overthink it.
What if I forget my PIN?
You get a recovery code when you sign up. Store it somewhere safe: your email, a notes app, written down. That's your backup.
Is my data secure?
All contact data is encrypted on your device before it ever reaches our servers using AES-256 encryption. We can't read your contacts. Nobody can without your PIN.
Does it work without the app?
Technically it's not an app. And that's the whole point. No app. Any browser on any device. Hotel lobby computer, borrowed phone, airport terminal. Doesn't matter.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Free gives you one contact, enough to test it and set up your most important number. Pro gives you unlimited contacts, location in messages, default to WhatsApp, and import/export.
