Built from a bad night at Tomorrowland
I was at Tomorrowland. My phone disappeared into the crowd. 400,000 people. No phone. No way to find anyone.
I had no idea where my crew was. No way to reach them. I just made the best of it and eventually walked back to the tent. They were already there.
The same thing happened another time. Locked out of work accommodation at 11pm, phone inside, in the middle of nowhere in rural Australia. Half an hour walk to a petrol station. Nobody had the number I needed. I got lucky. A stranger overheard me and happened to work for the same company.
And here’s the thing. Even when you do find a phone to borrow, logging into your email or iCloud to get a number isn’t as simple as it sounds. They send a verification code to your phone. The phone you don’t have. You’re locked out of your own accounts at exactly the moment you need them.
Luck isn't a plan. So I built Quick Contacts. A simple cloud phone book, accessible from any device, with just an alias and a PIN.
